Designed in an eclectic neo-Byzantine and Moorish style, the Grand Choral Synagogue is not only a place of worship but a registered landmark and an architectural monument. It also lays claim to being the second largest synagogue in Europe after the Dohány Street Synagogue in Budapest. Its great hall, renovated as part of a $5 million restoration from 2000 to 2005, holds 1,200 and has women's galleries on three sides in addition to excellent acoustics.

Beautiful restoration and still being used. One of the city's architectural gems.
