La Gomera Ethnographic Museum in an old manor house gives a good look at the unique culture and traditions of the island with translations in English and German and also doubles as a handicraft center. Foodies may want to drop in the Gofio Mill Museum (closed Sundays) to see how gofio - a mixed grain Canarian flour - is made and buy some to take home. The museums are in the San Pedro neighborhood where you can see traditional Canarian architecture dating from the 18th century and a 16th century Dominican convent.
