Chueca is a rabbit's warren of narrow streets just north of Madrid's historic center filled with LGBTQ clubs, bars, restaurants and shops of all descriptions. Just off the busy Gran via, the neighborhood around Chueca Square is safe and lively 24/7. Before 1980 when the first gay entrepreneurs began revitalizing, it was a run-down area best know for drug-dealing. Today it draws both LGBTQ and straight visitors and was the backdrop for World Pride in 2017. Line 5 on the Metro to the Chueca station gets you there.
