One of Spain's best wine-producing region, Penedès is a 20-minute drive from Sitges. It makes a pleasant day trip to tour the vineyards and sample the oak-aged reds and cava, a sparkling wine. Vilafranca del Penedès is the capital of the region. A wine and food festival celebrating the harvest is held in Sitges each October.
