The seaside Pink Triangle Monument recalls the 1996 riots following a police crackdown of gay men on the beach at night and the murder of a gay waiter by neo-nazis. Unveiled in 2006 to mark the 10th anniversary, it reads "Sitges against homophobia - 'Never again' - October 5th 1996 - 2006." The Inverted triangle was the first LGBTQ monument in Spain.
