Vladimir Lenin, James Joyce, Benito Mussolini and Albert Einstein are all said to have frequented the Odeon, although not together. Opened in 1911 in the style of Viennese coffee house and popular with the intellectual set, this historic café is one of several places in Zurich to lay claim to having birthed and cradled Dadaism, but is the first place in the city to serve champagne by the glass. Despite or because of its rather posh Art Nouveau appearance, it has been a favorite spot among the queers for decades.
