Founded in 1787, the Kunsthaus is one of the most prominent art museums in all of Europe. Munch, Monet and the various permutations of Impressionism are its strong suit, but there is also a strong showing in landscape paintings, notably Domenichino's Baptism of Christ. Rotating exhibits of contemporary sculpture may be found on the ground floor.
