At the northwest end of the Palace of Westminster, Parliament Square was created in 1868 to ease traffic with London's first traffic signals. It remains congested today, surrounded by Westminster Abbey, the Supreme Court, the Houses of Parliament and the Whitehall government offices. Visitors may be more interested in one of the most photographed red phone booths in the world on corner with Big Ben tower as a backdrop.
