Farme de Amoedo is Rio's LGBTQ area with a wide selection of restaurants, bars and clubs and a main hub around the corner of Farme and Visconde de Pirajá streets. It's a place made for people watching, after beach drinks and long nights of partying. The stretch of sand just east of Rua Farme de Amoedo is the LGBT beach, particularly popular with muscled men (locally known as Barbies), but it is a meeting point for the entire community.

This is the gay Hotspot of Rio. During the day the area of the beach just in front of the Farme de Amoedo street is the gay point to meet other guys. At night some bars and restaurants of the street get full of gay guys, specifically the one called "Tô nem aí". But it generally has more foreigners than locals. If you want to meet cariocas you should try some clubs during the weekend.
