Situated in the heart of Guanabara Bay, the beach is next to the namesake park and the whole area is built on land reclaimed from the sea. The greenery of the park and the tranquil waters of the bay offer a perfect place to escape the busier Rio and is a bit more local. Swimming here is not advised because of the pollution, although the government is working on a long clean-up process. Chair and umbrella rentals available. Keep an eye on your belongings.
