Taxco is a city between Acapulco and Mexico City, known as the Silver City because of the beautiful jewelry and silverware crafted from the silver mined there. It has more than 200 silver shops and a Saturday morning silver market. Named one of Mexico's magical towns, its red-tile-roof colonial homes line narrow streets, set against the backdrop of a picturesque mountainous landscape. It has become a tourism destination, particularly during Holy Week, when Taxco celebrates with elaborate processions and ceremonies.
