The family home of López Portillo - José the writer, not José the president - is the only "House" museum in the city, displaying well- preserved furniture from the 18th, 19th and early 20th century, European art and period fashion behind its Baroque facade. Not all the antiques came with the French neoclassical mansion, built at the end of the 18th century, but the permanent exhibition does reflect the lifestyles of the rich and famous of yesteryear. It is often the venue for cultural events. Admission is free.
