The 36-room urban-chic Carlota was created within the shell of Garden Amazonas, a decaying budget hotel. Rooms have stone sinks in the bathrooms, concrete floors and ceilings and trendy decor, but the real attractions are in the public spaces: the dramatic rectangular swimming pool, a plush library lounge and Taxonomía, a hip design shop with 100% Mexican offerings. The dining room on a covered terrace showcases the innovative cuisine and delicious breads of young chefs Joaquín Cardoso and Sofía Cortina.
