The Ballet Folklórico de México celebrates the nation's traditional culture in dance. Founded in 1952 by Amalia Hernández, it has toured extensively internationally since representing Mexico in 1959 at the Pan American Games in Chicago. Its home theater is the Palacio de Bellas Artes where it performs several times a week as well as in other theaters in the country.
