Chapultepec Zoo in Chapultepec Park is the second largest zoo in Mexico after Guadalajara but the best known. Founded by a biologist in 1923, it has almost 2,000 animals representing 200 species. It is known for its Giant Panda breeding program and endangered Mexican species like the volcano rabbit (the world's second smallest rabbit) and native wolves and jaguars.
