Yelapa, the last in a string of beaches along the Bay of Banderos below Puerto Vellata, is a fishing village with a white sandy beach. It's good for diving, snorkeling, parasailing or kayaking. Head inland from the cove to hike in the hills, visit a 150-foot (46 m) waterfall, camp or horseback ride. In the village, shop handicrafts made from locally grown rosewood, lunch on fresh fish and sample the chocolate, coconut or lemon Yelapa pies sold on the beach. The trip by boat from the city takes about 45 minutes, but beachside accommodations are available if you decide to stay over.
