The sprawling Albrook Mall by the national bus station started out as the people's mall and continues to be packed with bargain-seeking locals, but a major expansion has added upscale brands like Banana Republic, Lacoste and Steve Madden. Covering an area equal to 36 soccer fields, the mall is so big that if you spent 10 minutes at every shop (not counting restaurants), it would take 56 hours to see everything. In addition to shops, Albrook has 55 places to eat with an excellent food court and outposts of several top Panamanian restaurants. Divided into sections named for exotic animals, the place vibrates with activity including an Italian carousel, bowling alley, live concerts, the country's largest video game parlor, a supermarket and movie theaters. Located near the domestic airport and the national bus terminal, the mall has easy bus and metro connections to the rest of the city.
