Coronado, the country's first beach development, is only an hour from Panama City, which makes it popular with ex-pats and wealthy Panamanians weekenders as well as a crowd and local and international tourists. A wealth of beach resorts and restaurants has grown up by its black-and-white beaches, but the pace slows to a crawl after sunset.
