The extensive white sands of Playa Santa Clara are nearly deserted during the week, but on weekends the beach is packed with locals who arrive ready for fun with music, beer and soccer balls. It is reached via the Inter-American Highway, about an hour and a half from Panama City. Day-trippers can rent cabanas with hammocks for $10 and have access to showers and toilets for $2.
