Established in 1919 by Isadore Shlafman, Fairmount competes with St-Viateur for the title of Montreal's best bagel. Bagels are hand-rolled, dipped in a honey and water mixture and baked in a wood-fired oven. Regardless of who actually does make the best bagel in Montreal, Fairmount can lay claim to sending the first bagel to space in 2008.
