Surrounded by skyscrapers, perhaps the most impressive church in downtown Vancouver is the Christ Church Cathedral, which first welcomed parishioners in 1895. The interior is stunning, partly due to a 2016 renovation, which added a new modern spire at the back of the cathedral with beautiful stained glass. The vaulted cedar ceiling and its supporting beams are equally impressive. Open and welcoming to LGBTQ visitors, the church often performs gay weddings.
