Just to the south of the downtown Vancouver peninsula sits Granville Island. The island acts as both a transit hub and shopping center, and has some of the best restaurants in the city. Topping the list of treats is a gourmet market that's a destination on its own, two breweries, a number of small shops, a playground and a marina. Parking can be difficult, but both paid lots and public transportation links are available.
