A little known fact about Vancouver is that Jimi Hendrix's grandmother lived here for many years. Jimi came to visit her regularly in the summers, and even performed a few impromptu shows in Hogan Alley. Due to this illustrious rock-n-roll history, Gastown has a shrine to Jimi complete with family photos and random memorabilia. The appeal lies not in the exhibits - which are a little sparse - but the overall vibe of this hidden corner of the city and the various murals, flowers and signs that decorate the area.
