First conceived after a 1920-viaduct construction that left the first floors of many buildings at basement level, Underground rose to such a fever pitch around the 1970s that it was often considered Atlanta's Bourbon Street (still it is the only place in town where the booze flows until 4 am). But now, post-Olympics, it's a sad affair of souvenir shops, trashy nightclubs and dashed dreams.
