Growing out of a farm boy's hobby, Butterfly World opened in 1988, becoming the first butterfly house in the United States and now the largest in the world. With over 5,000 butterflies, it includes a tropical rain forest aviary with waterfall, tropical plants, birds and butterflies; an aviary for hummingbirds, an outdoor botanical garden and a laboratory where the butterflies are raised.
