Home to birdlife and sea turtle nests, the John U. Lloyd State Park covers 310 acres (125 ha) between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway from Port Everglades Inlet to Dania. In addition to being one of the easiest and most interesting shore dives in the county, it offers surf fishing, canoeing, swimming, nature study, boating and picnicking. During the loggerhead nesting season in June and July, guided turtle walks are scheduled on Wednesday and Friday evenings.
