Riverwalk is a linear park established along New River in the late 1980s to spur re-development of the Fort Lauderdale waterfront. The Riverwalk Arts and Entertainment District of museums, theater, open-air music festivals grew out of the effort and a new downtown club scene developed west of US 1.
