The Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Museum, named for the late treasure hunter, displays riches and artifacts he recovered from two 17th Spanish galleons that sunk in a hurricane off Key West in 1622 as well as his discoveries from an English slave ship. The museum's "Treasure Store" sells authentic "pieces of eight" and re-creation coins and jewelry. The Key West Turtle Museum is also housed in the building.
