San Carlos Institute is a Cuban heritage center founded by exiles in 1871. It was in a building later destroyed by a hurricane that José Martí gave a stirring speech that united exile factions into a revolutionary force. A 100 years after that speech. the renovation of the present early 20th century building was completed. The center hosts exhibits and special events.
