The desert landscape of Death Valley National Park is just two hours from Las Vegas, and as the largest national park outside of Alaska it's a breathtaking sight. There are nine campgrounds at various elevations throughout the park - some are closed during the extreme heat of the summer months - but you can also rent air-conditioned cabins close to camper shops and RV sites. The park as a whole is probably best seen from a four-wheel-drive vehicle, as many of the most beautiful canyons are otherwise difficult to reach, and there are several tour groups that will show you most of the park in a day.
