The Huntley Hotel, less than a 15-minute walk to the beach and even closer to Third Street shopping, has an art deco-style exterior but a strikingly modern interior by Santa Monica-based Thomas Schoos, who more often designs residences for stars like Ellen DeGeneres and Will Smith and Jade Pinkett. Some rooms have a king bed and sofa bed in a sitting area; all have 60-inch flat screens. On top of the 18-story building is the Penthouse restaurant with panoramic Pacific views and a weekday happy hour from 4 pm to 7 pm.
