It's pretty much standing-room only at the small and intimate Troubadour, where music greats have played and partied for almost a half century. Beginning with folk in 1957, it's been the place for whatever's cutting-edge. Everyone who is anyone has played there, many performances recorded live. It's where Elton John made his first US appearance in a sold-out, six-night run in 1970 right after his first album debuted. Line up an hour before the show to jockey for the best spots to stand up and a few to sit down. The front bar and an upstairs VIP balcony have live feeds from the stage.
Troubadour, Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA, United States
