Le Comptoir in the historic Hotel Normandie has only 10 seats at the counter with seatings at 6 pm and 8:30 pm. The seven-course menu, created by Chef Gary Menes, changes according to what's growing in the chef's organic urban farm in Long Beach. Menes gets the most out of his vegetables through precise long-temperature cooking. Reservations need to be made well in advance. If you are scheduled for the 8:30 pm and arrive early, you're likely to be directed to the hotel bar.
