Yamashiro with incomparable views and a 600-year-old pagoda is a decades-old Asian restaurant and facsimile of a Japanese palace near Kyoto. Originally a private estate, it was built in 1914 by two brothers who wanted to show off their Asian art collection. Fans of "the L Word" will recognize it as the venue for the post-production party of "Lez Girls." Scenes from "Memoirs of a Geisha" were also shot there. A Los Angeles landmark, it's popular with tourists, but the future is uncertain after it was sold to a Chinese hospitality company in 2016. The Lounge is open from 5 pm to closing if you want to go just for drinks and the setting.
