Beach volley ball reigns along The Strand or boardwalk at Hermosa Beach. Beautiful bodies are also roller blading, skateboarding, surfing, paddle boarding and sun bathing. Party Central over Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends during Fiesta Hermosa, the beach is also a regular venue for live music. The Strand is part of the 22-mile (35 km) Marvin Braude Bike Trail that ends in the north at Will Rogers State Beach, LA's unofficial gay beach. The 1.5-mile (2.4 km) sandy playground is 26 miles (42 km) from downtown Los Angeles or about an hour by car given the traffic.
