If you've seen the MTV reality show about Laguna, you haven't seen West Street Beach, which draws a gay crowd all the way from West Hollywood. On the south end of town, it's a 90-minute trek into Orange County, but the charms of the beach - and the sunning, surfing, volleyball and partying to be found there - make up for the drive.
