The Frick Collection--endowed from the estate of industrial magnate Henry Clay Frick--is housed in Frick's private residence on the Upper East Side.  The museum boasts a number of world-class original artworks, but the real treat is the sense that you're walking through a home of that era whose inhabitants have just stepped out for a moment.
