The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center, or just "the Center," is a vibrant neighborhood hub built around the unique challenges facing the LGBT community. Offering multiple arts workshops, life coaching, support groups, and a project devoted to the needs of transgender people, it provides invaluable services to its members. History buffs should note that it was here in 1987 that activist Larry Kramer started ACT UP in response to the devastation of the AIDS epidemic.
