Accessible only by ferry, the Angel Island State Park is a former military garrison that's now a wildlife preserve popular with hikers and campers. Ferries only operate once a day, at 10:10 a.m. during the week and 9:45 a.m on the weekends, so you'll be staying overnight if you want to see it. This limitation has kept the park pristine, and it's also one of the best places from which to take pictures of the city skyline.
