Locally known as the Ballard Locks after the popular nearby neighborhood, the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are one of Seattle's most popular tourist attractions. The locks were built in 19017 to create a passage from Puget Sound to Lake Union and Lake Washington, and still receive frequent daily use. Don't miss the Carl S. English Jr. Botanical Garden and the fish ladder when you visit.
