The Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, a 30 foot granite sculpture located between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials and overlooking the Tidal Basin's cherry trees, was completed in 2011 and dedicated by Barack Obama. A long stone wall is inscribed with many of MLK's inspirational quotes that are particularly poignant in this location, as he delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the neighboring Lincoln Memorial. The Memorial bookstore offers a substantial collection of books and art related to the father of the Civil Rights Movement.
