This sprawling museum complex, which spans 12,260sq feet on the eastern arm of the National Mall, was endowed by financier Andrew Mellon.  It houses one of the finest art collections in the world and has masterpieces from every major artist from the 13th to the 20th centuries. The museum offers free tours daily as well as a variety of concerts and lectures.  Particularly popular are the summertime Friday jazz concerts in the sculpture garden.
