The Museum of the American Indian, with its striking curved limestone façade, is located on the east end of the Mall by the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station. The architecture is meant to echo natural windswept shapes of Native American cliff dwellings, while the 5 acre grounds are landscaped to resemble the wetlands of the mid-Atlantic region. A hands-on museum with many child-friendly exhibits, it has artifacts reaching back 10,000 years. Don't miss the top-rated Mitsitam Café, one of the best restaurants on the Mall, where you can try seasonally influenced indigenous dishes.

It's a bit hidden, but worth to go see.
