The largest Chinatown in Australia and the main one in the city, the neighborhood on the southern side of downtown has restaurants, shops and Market City, a modern shopping center built behind old produce market walls. Shopping also includes traditional night markets on Fridays and the Haymarket Paddy's Market's Wednesday-to-Sunday produce and flea market. At Hay and Sussex Streets stands Chinatown's good-luck charm - the 35-foot (10.7 m) Golden Water Mouth sculpture, glittering with 23-carat gold leaf over a eucalyptus trunk.
