Filling a city block, the Queen Victoria Building (QVB), built in the 1890s, has three levels of shopping, cafes and restaurants with morning or afternoon tea served in The Tea Room QVB under Baccarat crystal chandeliers. Considerable Art Deco remodeling was done in the 1930s and a massive restoration project in the 1980s with escalators added in 2007-2008. At Christmastime, a spectacular tree is exhibited under the large central dome.
