Once a port for the city, the Puerto Madero neighborhood sits on the banks of the Rio de la Plata and underwent a large-scale refurbishment in the 1990s, transforming the area from decayed into one of the trendiest spots in the city, filled with luxe residences, restaurants and hotels. All of the streets in Puerto Madero are named after women, and the Puente de la Mujer (Woman's Bridge) connects the east and west docks.
