Every year, the city comes to a halt to celebrate the second biggest carnival on Earth. Full of exuberant dresses, bright colors, loud music and a lot of alcohol,  Sao Paolo's carnival is second only to Rio's and attracts millions of people to dance and party in the city streets. It is a mixture of official parades, special nightclub events and traditional neighborhood festivities. Most gay clubs offer a special schedule during carnival week.
