The 176-room Ramada Plaza (or Ramada WeHo) was built in the late 1980s on the site of the Tropicana Motor Lodge, famous as a hangout for rock-and-roll artists in the late 1960s and 1970s and where Andy Warhol filmed "Heat." Musicians liked the location near the legendary Troubadour and a weekly rate of $29.75 a night. You won't see Tom Waits, Iggy Pop or the Ramones around the pool (or a $29.75 room), but the Ramada WeHo is a gay-friendly hotel in the heart of the gayborhood. Its accommodations include loft suites, good for families and friends traveling together. There's a 24-hour American restaurant, a burger shop and shuttle service to theme parks.
