An enormous floating museum, the Intrepid is a 900-foot aircraft carrier that was active in World War II, during which it was attacked by kamikaze pilots. Now restored to its former glory, kids can explore the deck, watch multimedia presentations outlining the history of the carrier, play on a flight simulator, send messages in Morse code, and investigate the Growler, a submarine docked alongside. There is a large Welcome Center on the dock with an array of educational toys and souvenirs. Check out their website for reduced ticket prices.
