Nearly 1,000 participants walk or run the 5K Pride Parade route between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm as crowds gather for the parade festivities. Begun informally by Front Runners & Walkers San Diego in the 1980s, it is one of the biggest Pride runs in the US and raises money for The San Diego Center's LGBT Youth Housing Project and Pride Community Grants. The USTAF-certified race starts and finishes at University Avenue and Centre Street next to the San Diego LGBT Center.
